23rd HSE Tourist Rally Took Place in Moscow Region

The HSE Open Tourist Rally brought together about 300 students, graduates and staff of the university.

Playing Football with Students and Intangible-driven Economy in Perm and Vigo

HSE Campus in Perm has launched a series of research seminars at the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy involving international experts. Leading Research Fellow of the Laboratory Angel Barajas from the University of Vigo (Spain) and head of the sports economy section Dennis C. Coates, from the University of Maryland (US) were involved in the seminar series. From June 14 to 18 the 3rd International Summer School on the Intangible-Driven Economy will take place. Key speakers will include IDLab's leading researchers. Dr. Barajas spoke to HSE English News about the seminar series, the summer school, intangibles in football economics and the FIFA crisis.

The world-famous competition between Oxford and Cambridge universities traces its history back to 1829. These sporting duels are part of a broader tradition of genial one-upmanship between the two universities, which has been held on the river Thames for 186 years. This year, the tradition is coming to Moscow – where the capital's two leading universities will battle it out in a regatta.

Kerri Matulis is majoring in Psychology and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is spending a semester at the Faculty of Economics of HSE. If students use any of the gym space in the HSE dormitories, they have probably seen some of these items present. While these fitness materials aid students in their quest either to get into shape or to maintain some level of physical fitness, Kerri wants to suggest that there is definitely another option, which can add to both your fitness and sight-seeing routine: running.

HSE Law Faculty alumni Oksana Akhmedova and Tatiana Zolotukhina won prizes at the annual Moscow Legal Run at VDNKh. 62 HSE students worked as volunteer organisers of the run.

Extreme Sports Club Invites You Rafting in Karelia

Applications are open until 20 June for participation in the tourist trip along Karelia’s rivers, planned by the HSE’s Extreme Sports Club. The expedition is set for July 3-12. Even people who have never canoed before are welcome, as experienced instructors will explain everything you need to know, train you all, and — importantly — be right there alongside you.

How Will You Spend Spring and Summer?

HSE’s Extreme Sports student club offers students, teachers and employees at HSE, and their friends, the opportunity to take part in a series of spring and summer trips. Trips on offer include: hiking through Crimea and Abkhazia, climbing Europe’s tallest mountain – Mt. Elbrus, an expedition to the Sayan Mountains and a surf camp in Portugal.

HSE to get its own sports center

HSE has been allocated a plot for the construction of a sports center that will be equipped with a swimming pool. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Moscow Urban Planning and Land Commission on March 5.

The Kant Sports Complex has hosted the 4th annual Higher School of Economics Winter Sports Day, organised by the student Extreme Sports Club and the HSE Office of Public Relations.

Winter Sport Activities

Late last year, HSE’s Extreme Sports student club organized a trip for HSE students, instructors, staff, and their friends to an equestrian centre located 150 kilometres away from Nizhny Novgorod, and at the end of winter the club has extended an invitation to one of Georgia’s best ski resorts – Gudauri.
