Moscow has hosted the second International Conference on the Economics of Football, organized by HSE, the New Economic School, and the Centre for Strategic Development. One of the most topical discussions at the conference was the impact of the 2018 World Cup on the development of the Russian regions, the sporting industry, and the economy as a whole.
What is required of modern sports managers and how do digital technologies influence its development? These issues were discussed by participants at the international conference ‘Sport and the Future’ organized by HSE, International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), FIFA Master Alumni Association (FMA), and the Football Union of Russia (FUR).
Angel Barajas, Academic Superisor of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy, Professor at the University of Vigo, and research fellows of the laboratory Dennis Coates, Professor at the University of Maryland, Marina Zavertiaeva and Petr Parshakov took part in the 7th European Sport Economics Association Conference on Sport Economics that was held on August 27-28 in Zurich.
The first sailing regatta between HSE and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) was held in the Strogino water meadows and served as the beginning of a new tradition for student club competitions. Students from the two universities’ teams agreed to form a single team to participate in next year’s world sailing championship, which can be considered the main outcome of the regatta. And for those who are more interested in numbers, the teams were tied for most of the day, but it was MSU that won the five races with a score of 3:2.
